Musical Memory: Exploring the Role of Music in Learning and Healing

Session Description

Music can improve one's focus to an optimal relaxed-alert state for learning anything. It can be health-giving for lowering blood pressure, increasing energy, and moving more.

According to the Alzheimer's Foundation, worldwide it is estimated that 50 million people have dementia, and it will triple by 2050. In the U.S. more than 5 million have Alzheimer’s disease. By 2050, it is projected to reach nearly 14 million.

Protecting memory abilities during an epidemic of dementia is of critical importance.

Musical Memory is for adult learners interested in memory, health, and learning tools. It is for teachers, health care workers, caregivers, and all who are curious and value music. The course builds on the learners' experience to engage their own memory interests. No formal music training is needed. The course includes resources, activities, tools, and studies.
